Our Mission
To strengthen community participation in forest and land governance, advocate for the rights and benefits of forest-dependent communities, and build their capacity to manage natural resources responsibly.
Uniting forest-dependent communities to strengthen their rights, protect natural resources and build sustainable livelihoods across Liberia.
The National Union of Community Forestry Development Committees (NUCFDCs) brings together community forestry representatives to advocate for forest-dependent communities in Liberia.
Established in 2009, the Union includes 23 Community Forestry Development Committee groups across 11 Liberian counties, representing approximately 500 communities and villages.
We work to help communities participate meaningfully in forest and land governance, understand and exercise their rights, and pursue development opportunities linked to responsible management of natural resources.
NUCFDCs was established in 2009 to bring Community Forestry Development Committees together around shared priorities. Its collective approach helps communities raise concerns, engage stakeholders and advocate for a fairer role in decisions about forests and land.
Today, the Union provides a platform for community representation, training, advocacy and collaboration. Its work connects local priorities with broader discussions about forestry governance, benefit sharing and sustainable development.
We work to strengthen that voice through collective action, practical support and partnerships.
