Monrovia, Liberia – December 29, 2025 – The National Union of Community Forestry Development Committees (NUCFDCs) has signed a new grant agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Liberia through the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF), aimed at strengthening the capacities of Forest and Farm Producer Organizations (FFPOs) across Liberia.
The project, titled “Strengthened capacities in policy advocacy and governance for the promotion of resilience of forest and farm producers for sustainable livelihood in Liberia,” will run from January to June 2026 with a total funding of just over forty thousand USD.
According to the project team Lead, Mr. Andrew Y Y Zelemen, the initiative seeks to empower forest and farm producers by enhancing governance, advocacy, and resilience.
He further said “ the project has four key Outputs, Strengthening the internal governance systems of FFPO federations to improve advocacy agendas that represent all members’ interests.Establishing and reinforcing functional cross-secretarial, multi-stakeholder policy processes to ensure better representation of forest and farm producers.Building the capacity of local producers to integrate climate adaptation strategies into their operations. And Supporting FFPOs to develop systems that provide social and cultural services, particularly targeting the most vulnerable members”.
This marks the NUCFDCs’ third Letter of Agreement (LOA) under the Forest and Farm Facility, reflecting a sustained collaboration with FAO and its partners.
“We are thankful to the FAO Forest and Farm Facility and collaborating partners for their continued support. This third LOA demonstrates the trust and commitment to strengthening community-based forest and farm organizations in Liberia,” Mr. Zelemen noted.
According to Mr. Zelemen, the project is expected to contribute significantly to sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and inclusive governance for forest and farm producers across Liberia. By reinforcing advocacy structures and service delivery systems, the initiative will help ensure that local communities remain central to national forest and land governance processes.
